This weekend is the Chicago Air and Water Show

For some reason it's supposed to be the biggest attraction here all year and I'm really curious as to what all the fuss is about.

I'm glad someone else feels that way... We just had the Seafair weekend with the Blue Angels. They arrive on Thursday and everyday through Sunday the east/west bridges of our city are shut down at lunch time for their flights.

This year on that Sunday we were sitting in the ball park watching baseball as they were doing their thing. People were blindly looking up and oh and ahhing. Folks - wake up, engage your brain. Think about what you are looking at. These are F-18's - war machines, big nasty powerful ones - you are being sucked into the Navy's number one recruiting tool.

Imagine the fear these cause to people on the ground...

then not everyone agrees with me on that score.

i'm with you. i might be entertained for a brief time, but definitely not for 10 hours, or hell even 2 or 3. there must be something else in addition to the planes? maybe?

i know in Louisville they have a big air show about two weeks before Derby, but it leads up to a big fireworks show called Thunder over Louisville, so there is a variety of things going on (bands, music, etc).

you better go get those earplugs :)
