This Saturday was the 6th annual Slay-a-thon, a 13 hour marathon of Buffy and Angel episodes along with  games and contest and prizes. All good geeky fun. I've look forward to this event every year. It's always great to find people that didn't look at me like I was crazy for watching a show called Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Then again, anyone that ( Read more... )

Sounds like fun AND prizes!!! I like the defunct cartoon Futurama. I have a Bender wind-up doll with a cigar and a bottle of booze. You gotta love the accessories...

Futurama was fun.
Like just about everyone else, I was a Simpsons fan so I got into it through that.

Is this your toy?

I'd love to do something like this but such meetings are thin on the ground in the UK. I just have geeky marathons in my living room with my buffy obsessed friend, pizza and lots of wine. My current BF sealed the relationship by getting me the entire Buffy and Angel DVD collections for our first Christmas together, he's clearly a good one.
Well done on the prize!

Sounds like your boyfriend is definitely a keeper. (-:

I actually haven't heard of anything like Slay-a-thon anywhere else. As far as I can tell, it's just a local grass roots thing put together in conjunction with the Make A Wish Foundation. It would be great to see it catch on in other places.

I attended my first Slayathon two years ago when I first moved here. Not only was it a fun event, but it was a great way to meet people. Buffy peeps tend to be cool peeps.

And again, not the same thing but I saw that there is a Buffy group in London:

Not sure how far that is from you, but if you're in the London area, it may be a fun thing to check out.

I planning on studying very very hard this year and being an all around good girl (chance would be a fine thing) and getting into a top London Uni. Then the world is truly my oyster, London is a teensy bit too far and too expensive on Northen wages.
Buffy people are definitely the best,I've found you can bond with total strangers over a love of herself. Also makes for excellent stories, along with the odd injury, when you try and show everyone how you are just as good after a night in the pub.
