Over the weekend a Canadian friend told me that Canadian bacon wasn't really bacon.

I think she just wanted to see me cry.

Canadian bacon proper is the same as British bacon, or back bacon.

The stuff they sell in the US as Canadian is probably closer to ham or this stuff called peameal bacon.
