Life and death of a baby whale

I know !...
I post here really rarely (without saying NEVER...) you know I rarely speak about my private life here, but what happened in my native department (and where I live during my holidays) was so shocking that I decided to post this...

I translated the whole story for those of you who don't understand the French language.

This summer, a baby female rorqual, separated from her mother (probably dead), roamed during several weeks between the coast of Monaco and Le Var (my native department, at the French Riviera) totally disorientated and completly starved.

A whole plan of rescue was set up to try to save her, but it was without counting with the human stupidity...
The savers wanted to direct the little whale towards the shore in order to put it into a special "sea bed" made especially for her, for trying to feed and fix her...
She was so thiny and exhausted, poor little baby !

They nearly managed, but unfortunatly, there were a lot of BLOODY STUPID tourists who just didn't understand what they wanted to do, and ran towards this poor baby, giving her the frightness of her short life !!!!
So, the whale calf desesperatly tried to escape all of them... and then knocked against the rocks, hurting herself more !!!

Some witnesses said the crowd began to move back only when they saw the blood.
But they also said that they saw some people prided themselves on having managed to tear a piece of the whale calf's skin out...
So horrible and shocking !
If I has been here, I think I would have killed them !!!!

At the end, she managed to go away... and just disapeared towards the open sea... for never been found again...
She is probably dead, now..

You do know I love animals (as all of you, I suppose !) and especially the whales !

This small film I did with my niece (who is also a huge animal lover) is a tribute for this whale calf which underwent far too many useless sufferings.
May she rests in peace...
