One of our ministers reported a week before Christmas that their “Toys for Tots” collection drive was coming up woefully short this year. I believe their goal was something like 800,000 toys and they had only collected 250,000 but he was hopeful because he said that many of the biggest corporate donors wait until the last minute to dump massive

Knowing that sometimes more is read than is written I would like to add a post script to this thought. I am NOT saying that you shouldn't buy children toys. Children love toys. I have bought many of them over a number of years. However, my child did not grow up poor or disadvantage. She never had to rely on the generosity of strangers at Christmas or any other time of the year. Of course I am talking about disadvantaged children in this piece and what would benefit them. If we would make it more about them than ourselves we would do what is best for them.
