If you walked up to the Beeb and handed this to old RTD, his own mistakes in the finale which you've so effortlessly mown down would probably break him.

Oh, it's easy to get it right when you don't have to line up all the actors and get the ruddy thing made. I did feel the beach scene, particularly, would have benefitted from at least one more day's shooting, it was as if the actors (with the exception of DT as Original Ten) were as phased by it as we were.

I hope RTD isn't done with us just yet.

The Doctor/Donna scene is sweet and it makes so much sense that he'd be reluctant to let go of Donna in his mind. I can't believe I could read a scene where Donna and the Doctor kiss again and still not feel the slightest bit of jealousy for Rose's sake.

Anyway.

Love the talk between Sarah Jane and the Doctor. I think you've hit on all the faults in the Doctor's current mode of action. I can only hope he'll learn these lessons in the TV series before RTD leaves, because having the Doctor alone in the TARDIS and broken because of his own actions is just too painful to watch.

All the characters are lovely and spot on. Can't wait to see how this is concluded.

I am hanging onto "The Stowaway" and the inescapable fact that this is NOT an optimistic conclusion to the show, in the hope that further character development is possible for Ten. It seems he's gone through four series only to arrive back where he started.

Something I like is how you can pack all this excellent content into their dialogue and it sounds so true. I like SJ's points about throwing away a beautiful gift, and not necessarily being able to keep Rose safe.

And Donna...I love her. I love her just being her and still being amazing.

Thanks! I've always been a dialogue-led writer. And I just couldn't bear what happened to Donna. I had to fix it.

I love it.
The only thing is I wish Sarah Jane had mentioned Harry at some point during her talk with the Doctor.

I don't really know a lot about Harry to be honest. But look out for a Brigadier mention in the next part!

You can talk. Just look at that manacled DT! But yes, it was a bit creepy. In fact, the whole scenario was a bit creepy. I'm still trying to come to terms with most of it.
