Thinking a little bit more about RTD's original plan for resolving the D/R ship, I've been considering Jack's part in it. I'll put the rest below a cut.
I quite agree with your assessment here about Jack, and his capacity for love- not that it's so shallow he skips from person to person, but that it's deep enough to hold so many.
I'm in some ways reminded of the D'Angelines from the Kushiel books, with the one precept of Elua- love as thou wilt. In whatever form it's presented or accepted, it's still love.
