So Tom is going through his security clearance for work and today, they called him and told him they needed a copy of his birth certificate ASAP. When he asked why, he was told it was because he was born in Germany and they needed proof that he was born!  SAY WHAT?!?!?!? I guess talking to him on the phone or meeting with him in person Thursday

Social Security numbers don't mean squat because they can be faked/forged so easily. Plus, they are issued to permanent residents who don't get U.S. citizenship. Mike will get one when he gets his green card.

It's the fault of the employer for not letting Tom know he needed the new forms. He's not an illegal alien at all, they just need updated forms on file for his security clearance. Those are two different things entirely.

Actually, they didn't even know there was a new certificate until Tom came along. Apparently he's the first German born American they've had working for them. Or at least since this new one went into effect.

Apparently if his parents both submit an affidavit that they were both US Citizens in the military stationed there when he was born, and to the best of their knowledge, he does not now or ever had a German Citizenship, that'll surfice until the new one arrives... Or so they say as of 45 minutes ago.

Who knows, they never said that he needed any of this crap last week. He's had to resubmit it 4 times because of stuff they keep asking him for
