So after much debate on whether or not I really wanted to see the remake of one of the most iconic movies of my generation, the decision was taken from me when Frankie drove me nuts all weekend and I needed to get away for a few hours. So you say that the remake is almost as good as the original? That's a surprise!
I'm not very fond of remakes, especially of the movies I loved during the childhood.
I rewatched some clips of the old Footloose on Youtube after watching Kevin Bacon on X-Men, the origins (why do they give him always the role of the bad guy? :(... ) and I watched some premieres of the new movie as well.
I can't deny the dance numbers and the choreograpies are very good but, well, from what I saw they are a bit too much hip-hop for my taste. I'm a biiiig fan of the '80 music so the new sounds don't have the same charm for me!
Just my opinion! Actually what you said made me think this movie isn't as bad as I thought!

I protest a lot of remakes....Footloose and now someone wants to do a remake of Dirty Dancing...both of these movies hold such special memories for me...

I don't know if I can stomach watching them. I hate the Charlie's Angels movies even though I am a big fan of Drew Barrymore's because they totally made fun of the show...

Same thing for the Dukes of Hazzard and Starksy and Hutch movies...

Heard Blake Shelton's version of 'Footloose' on CMT today...and it can't touch Kenny Loggins version.
