Maybe it's just me and I'm overlooking something, but ever since the epilogue got published, I keep wondering why everyone is so ready to assume that Albus looks like Harry and Scorpius looks like Draco.
Because, if you just read the text, it says:
The new boy resembled Draco as much as Albus resembled Harry.

You're not getting it wrong at all! But I sincerely doubt JKR meant anything but "they're copies of their dads" -- come on; we're talking JK "oh dear, maths" Rowling here. >.>

Imagine the possibilities! *squees* Fandom revolution *dies of lol*

I'm being nasty, I know.
And honestly, this is not about making fun of JKR, but more about fandom being so willing to believe what everybody (me included) wants to believe.
What about a little later tonight? Say, around 19 or 20 my time?

Exactly. They are OC aside from their family history. I've seen interesting versions of them, and I'm willing to believe a lot of versions, as long as the author makes them plausible. But even then, I want to see them rather cast as supporting characters. AS/S as the new H/D with history repeating itself is boring.
And writing next gen? I don't see the appeal - I'd rather stay with the main canon characters. Maybe as part of a gen story, I could see the fun of that. To think about the future like I think about the past of characters like Umbridge. But with Umbridge, there are gaps to fill. Scorpius and Albus are almost nothing but gaps.
