It makes me kinda sad to bail on my LJ after so many years, but I can't stand the full-page flash VIDEO ads they have randomly started showing every time I visit my own journal, so I'm gonna be updating even less frequently than I do currently. Everything I do just goes to facebook or other sites and I can't keep up here

Seconding the suggestion to switch to basic. I would encourage going paid, considering $25 will cover an entire year, but thought it might seem like a frivolous thing to do (paying for blog amenities) to someone who has a real social life.

I was fortunate--some generous stranger bought me an entire year of paid time last January, which got tacked on at the end of the six months I'd already bought in advance. I haven't had to think about putting more money towards Livejournal for quite a while, but I should probably do so before June comes along.
