this is ridiculous

so when i first got my computer (less than two years ago) i would get about a minute for each % of battery life, so i could get around an hour an a half on the battery.
now, i lose about 10% of the battery life a minute.
this is ridiculous!
in literally 3 minutes, it went from 100 (97 right after i unplugged it) to 59%.

what am i doing wrong?

laptop batteries have lifespans... and yours sounds like its dying.

there are a couple of tricks you can try to revive it like putting in the freezer for 24 hours (http://www.hackaday.com/2005/08/26/how-to-laptop-resurrection-and-upgrade/)
but none of those have ever really worked for me.

you probably just need a new battery. you're probably not doing anything wrong.

i had the same problem with my macbook.

meant i had to get a new battery...
