wednesday night i decided i'd go to stockholm this weekend (friday-sunday).
tonight those plans fell apart.

later, at 11pm, after much worrying and consultation, i bought a round trip ticket and booked two nights in a hostel (sacrificing two classes, one of which i need/need to study for like all heck)

it was the best decision i've made this year. it was such a nice change to all the cold, grey, wet weather we're been having. athens is absolutely stunning.
if you're going alone, i'd say to just be cautious. you've got a cute/pretty face and long blonde(ish?) hair and would stick out much more than i would. the only time i was uncomfortable was when this super creepy polish guy attached himself to me for three hours my last night, and i didn't know how to get rid of his so i just left the beach.
so far, a lot of european cities seemed the same to me. maybe that's blasphemous, but when i went to germany, it just seemed like a slightly bigger netherlands. athens seemed almost magical somehow. there's so much history everywhere you look (and the acropolis is lit up beautifully at night). there are markets and stray dogs and guys selling anything from socks to umbrellas to fake designer bags on bed sheets on the streets.
