He's definitely both big (108 lbs) and happy! Unfortunately he's almost blind. We rescued him from a snowbank off the highway almost 3 years ago, he was so small he it in the palm of my hand. The blindness doesn't really interfere with his enjoyment of life, except makes him overly *barky* because he knows something's there, he's just not sure what!

My old guy, Gonesh, is a one-eye from about 4 months old on. He's 12 years old now, and has a cataract in the remaining eye.

The only things that have slowed him down, though, are old age, bad knees, being a little on the fat side (bows head in shame), and that pit-bull run-in back in May.

They do an amazing job at enjoying life despite their handicaps!

He could be anything really! He came to us as a wee little pup, rescued from a snowbank on the side of a highway. We think he's shepherd/lab/? cross, but whatever it is, he's big and strong!!

Yes. Our new house is lacking in the fence department. Right now it's a constant hook up the leash, go out, come in, leash, out, in....and it's getting very wearing! Hopefully by the end of the month we'll have all our fence materials and get the friggin' thing up!

Fences are good! But nothing can replace training.

Cassie-dog used to be too energetic for her own good - as a youngster she ran *through* the fence several times, knocking entire segments down. When she didn't break the fence, she just jumped over it.

Gonesh has always been really good - and sometimes Cassie follows his lead. When I lived in Alameda, there were a few times where either I or my landlord left the back gate wide open with the dogs in the yard, and they didn't do anything more than stand at the opened gate and bark at everything!

I agree. Nothing replaces training, and the security it gives the dog to have limits in place.

Cassie sounds like quite the character! Gonesh must have his paws full with that one :-)
