To be honest, I used to listen to your solo work before I fell out of the loop and into my own game. What's life like now that I've lost sight of the light?
Dark. It's not too late to find the light again. Life's not so bad, I'm starting to show signs of aging, which is very annoying, but other than that, I'm alright. How about you?

There's nothing wrong about that at all. Sometimes pulling out a random topic out of your ass can bring a stagnant conversation back to life. Prevention of awkward silences are worth it usually.
Aa.. I'd be a hypocrite if I had a problem with them. I'm not an alcoholic, but I do drink on occasion. You're right, it makes for the tension to slip down a notch and the nerves to relax a bit. Though I try not to have too much; I tend to speak a combination of keyboard mash and gibberish when drunk. （笑）
