Which led to this; I've been working on it for a year. Tried my damndest to at least get a view of the pyramids in here (spent ages trying to figure out what time of the year this was so I could tell ( Read more... )

That was so tragic. ;__; Beautiful but tragic. Your use of detail words throughout the story gave a good overall mental image of the surroundings, and the lines of scripture at the beginnings of sections worked rather well inmho.

And Gabriel and Bast... *wibble* She almost seemed torn, hurt and angry by Gabriel's actions and wanting vengeance but also almost like she hoped he'd give her an explanation.

Poor Gabriel. I thought the nuance of him in the final section was well done, not that he consciously chose not to fight but almost that he couldn't bring himself to do it. I thought it was a much subtler way to show Gabriel's sadness and regret; so very IC for the interpretation you have of Gabriel.

Aww, thank you. My worry about writing about Ancient Egypt (I'm working on another piece now, set during happier times and featuring Gabriel and Bast at the Festival of Bubastis) is that I will put too many details in, because I love Ancient Egypt and am familiar with things like what a naos is but the reader might not be. :/ I'm glad it worked for you!

She was. She and Gabriel were truly very close friends, and even though she was a bit wary of him at first given the religion he comes from, she did like him and gave him a chance, and to her this was a betrayal. She is vengeful and certainly did want bloody revenge, but yes, part of her did want an explanation, although it wouldn't make up for his actions anyway.

He couldn't bring himself to fight back, yes, and I'm glad that came across! :D Aww. *blushes* Thank you so much. I was really, really worried about this fic; I'm glad Gabriel's not far off the mark. :D Thank you for the lovely review. <3
