I started out liking Kate, but somewhere around the middle of Season 1, I started disliking her. By the end of Season 1, I pretty much hated her, and then in Season 2, my hatred increased to epic proportions. Hated her for most of Season 3 and 4. She has been less annoying this season. Maybe because the writers started to notice that about 90 percent of the viewers can't stand her. I think Evangeline Lilly is a decent actress, and she seems cool from interviews and such, so nothing against her, but the character of Kate is stuffed down on throats too much and her backstory is absolutely ridiculous. And I'm a little nauseated by the whole "every man on the island has to have the hots for Kate in some way" thing. And I actively try to like her because I don't WANT to dislike her because she is such a major character. But man, the show makes it hard. And wow, I've written an essay... so ANYWAY, she is hard to like, but I like her more this season than I have the past three ( ... )
