You know, IKEA is basically always an awful experience. Yet when you're young and cheap and don't have access to your parents' house for furniture...IKEA becomes sort of inevitable. It's so damned overwhelming though, you're right. Anddd I have to go back on Tuesday.
I know, I've been lucky in that way... my first flat (if you can call one room + bathroom that) came ready with furniture, the second was similarly small and only needed stuff from my old room back home, for the third I was already moving together with my darling and again there was no need for new furniture since our old stuff already filled the new place and so on :) I think that as far as furniture goes we've only bought one TV-stand and one bookshelf and two desks and a couple of office chairs in all our years together. Oh, right, and the sofa we ordered from a catalogue so we didn't have to go anywhere. There's always been so much old stuff around from family and fellow students, it's been more of a problem of getting everything to fit the limited space. One of the benefits from never moving far from here :) Although I think we really should invest in new beds sometime soon-ish...
