001 Just a cat

[There had been fingers under his collar, pulling the cursed binding away from him, almost free when... he was suddenly waking on the end of a bed in a very strangely decorated house. He had seen pictures to this sort of style before, he believed it was somewhat common in Ancelstierre, though that could not be the case. He was a ( Read more... )

[If Mogget makes it to the park, there's a man out there enjoying a book on a park bench. With him, a large black and white cat is curled up against him asleep, as well as two crows sitting either side of him. The book looks old and worn, and has no title on the cover. When Mogget gets close, one of the crows chatters something to his master, and Theo looks up, and address the bird.]

Hnn? So what?

[Perhaps it was a case of the form dictates the actions, but Mogget was quite partial to chasing a bird or two. At the very least, it would express some of his frustrations at being bound in a completely different way than before.

So he's coiling tight as a spring, before pouncing at one of the crows with his claws out ready.]

[Poor Phobos, the meeker of the two crows, gets jumped! He squawks loudly in surprise, and tries to scramble away. His brother is much more tough, though, and makes a bee line straight for the attacker. Meanwhile, the big lazy cat rouses to see just what the hell is going on. And Theo, as usual, is annoyed at the whole situation.]

What the flying fuck--?! Goddamnit! Get the hell off of him. [He's getting up to try and grab the white cat.]

[Hissing, though more in frustration that he was just a CAT instead of a construct much more powerful in the shape of a feline, he gave the man holding him a distinctly unimpressed look.]

You clearly don't understand natural selection.

[Aisling hears the bell ringing, and for a second she thinks the cat is one she knew from home, but she quickly realizes that isn't the case. Pangur has one green eye and one blue eye, and this cat's eyes are both green. Still, it wouldn't hurt to greet it.]

Hello.

[Pausing in his slow pad along the street and looking the girl up and down, his tail swished back and forth.]

Is that it?

[Hello alone wasn't much good without a purpose.]

[She doesn't look too surprised by the fact that this cat can talk.] You look like a cat I know from home.

[Said in the driest possible tone;]

Fascinating.

[Rin is far from what one could consider a magician, but he isn't any closer to being normal. A long tail and pointed ears should be enough to signal this. He'd been on his way to work actually when he spotted the white cat.

Curse his poorly hidden weak spot for animals and the lack of self control he executed to try and keep himself on task. He'll be trotting over to where Moggart is and smiling down to him. ]

Are you lost? [Not that he expects a response. Rin's just acting childish. Don't mind the cat sitting a top his head either, happily remaining removed from the situation.]

[Mogget looks the newcomer up and down once, tail twitching in annoyance.]

Evidently.

[Good thing talking animals don't surprise him much anymore.]

Oh, well, where are you going?

If I knew that, I wouldn't be lost, would I?

[ Should Mogget find himself on Williams Road, there is a wizard in one of the driveways there with a beast of a lawnmower. His drone kid keeps insisting on mowing the lawn at stupid o'clock every morning, and he's going to put an end to it.

He raises a hand, middle and index fingers extended, and sketches a mark into the air- it looks nothing like the Charter Mogget is familiar with- but the concept may be the same. The lawnmower bends in on itself suddenly and violently, as if someone dropped a boulder on it. ]

[The sketch of a mark in the air certainly catches his attention; though he's learned by now from Theo that this world does not follow the rules of his own, and so he's padding closer to watch.

Sitting on the edge of the lawn, tongue slightly out as though to taste the residual magic - though, irritatingly, he was just a cat currently and could no more taste magic than he could transform into any of his other shapes.]

[ Warren is feeling especially vindictive, so he sketches out another spell, and the mower twists and bends again, leaving it unrecognizable. Clearly, you don't mess with the wizard's sleep schedule.

It's only when he turns to drag the poor machine down to the curb that he sees the cat. He arches his eyebrows ]

Can I help you?

If I needed help, I would have asked for it by now.

[He stretches, before starting to lick one paw unconcernedly.]

[...a bell! A bell! Nyanpire heard the ring-ring-ring of a tiny bell, and reacted with the reflexive excitement of a kitten that associated bells with fun chasing times. He spun himself around and then bolted in the direction of the noise!

And stopped short, surprised and perhaps a little disappointed, seeing that it was just from the collar of another cat.]

Nyaaaaaa....

[...a cat that he didn't recognize.]

Are you a real cat? For really-real?

[What by the Charter was this thing? Nyanpire gets a distinctly unimpressed flat look, Mogget's tail twitching as he tries to walk on by.

In the most sarcastic tone possible...]

Me-ow.

...nyaa. [Nyanpire tilted his head, looked closer at this new cat, then started to follow him.]

You MUST be real! Mayfield cats are just silly-silly and say they want to chase mice and get stuck in trees! It's nyice to have real cats here!

[He is cute enough to be incredibly annoying, and young and ignorant enough to be unaware of this fact.]

Be quiet, I'm hunting.

[It's incessant chatter would scare away the mice and rats. He would hope for something better cooked at 'home', but this would do for now.]
