A/N: The idea-germ for this started within hours of reading of Lis's death. I've worked at it during the past 24 hours and it's unbeta'd; all errors are therefore mine alone. It's also the longest piece of writing I've ever done, fiction wise, in the shortest space of time. Reviews, comments, feedback all welcome.

I hope the characterisations work - I'm not happy about some parts, and should probably have got a beta, but I wanted to get it out asap, and it's WAY too long for the new ficathon.
