So I see a lot of talk about Demon's eye color. And given the recent developments in Season 6 i wanted to try my hand at a little Meta about it. Or at least see if i can sound like i can talk about interesting and intellectual stuff

This brings up some very intriguing questions, indeed. What if Castiel ends up going head to head with Crowley in a nuclear blowout? What if he's able to take out both Crowley and Raphael? And what if the price for that is a corrupted soul? Merely touching one human soul gave Cas a power high so intense he never wanted to go through it again. What if this truly is the kryptonite that will destroy his soul and transform him into something else

You certainly have added some very interesting thinky things to add to my ponderings.
And this isn't really anything to do with why they never showed it. IT just started a thought line because people were talking about it on forums etc.
I'm not saying that It's an expensive effect I'm just saying that they cut the budget and we hardly get any classic rock any more because of it.
Edited to add that you do make a valid point though its just not what the focus of my idea was. which is the demon's eye color having nothing to do with rank but power.
If i was the accountant for the show i'd rather skimp on the demon eye effect to put that money somwhere better like another Boston song lol.
True. But to be completely honest (and I can't believe I'm saying this), I don't think the music has as big a place in the story as it used to. I mean sure, Wayward Son is always going to be the unofficial theme of the show, but it's not a road show anymore. It's a show about demons and angels and holy wars and choice vs. freedom. I think that's what appealed to me the most about the earlier seasons is that it was a road show and it was about two brothers hunting monsters on the blacktop. I'll always love Castiel and I do feel the show really hit its peak with season four but the first two seasons will always hold a special place in my heart for the aforementioned reasons.
Wow, how'd this go from Crowley's eyes to nostalgia? LOL! Sorry, this happens a lot with me. I like your icon, btw. =D
I like this! In my BigBang, I posited a very different origin mythology for the YED (and more of a power struggle with the Red ones not appreciating the YED taking so much power/leadership). I think there IS something there with the fallen-angel thing. I assumed that Crowley was a Red one but with his new power, he could well be far stronger than Cas.
The white-eyed ones I never could make sense of, (and I recall Sera saying she didn't want to get into the details of "chartreuse-eyed demons") but that's what WE do! :D
Me and my cousin were talking about this the other day. As you said the other demons, at some point in the show we've seen their eye colors. We had a theory that what if Crowley isn't really a demon? Big demons like Lillith, Azazel, and the Crossroads demon (the one that makes a pact with Dean in season 2) all have different eye colors than other regular demons. But never were we shown his eye color, maybe as you said, he is trying to seem weaker to take advantage of the situation. This may be way out there but we thought...what if Crowley is like Lucifer? A fallen angel cast down into Hell but not a demon? It sounds weird even to me but reading your speculations made me think of this. You just made even more curious than I already am o.o
