Running around in the pouring rain in a t-shirt and shorts = FUN TIIIIIMES 8)

Man, it's raining outside like it's hoping for a mention in the Bible. I'm sitting here right now, quietly freezing to death drying off and reflecting that I didn't get back from jogging a moment too soon.

Yeah, I was out jogging. I don't think anyone's more surprised than I am. But I'm running the Race for Life with my mum in just over a month, ( Read more... )

*waves pompoms*

One thing I've found is that going on long-ass fucking walks improves my running stamina slightly. I was amazed to discover that after walking four kilometers to the subway station three times a week I could actually jog for, like, thirty seconds without getting completely out of fucking breath. XD

If you want any tips on training for a 5K, I can ask dad! He knows all.

:D DUDE YOU ROCK THAT JOGGING. I like the sound of this. Jogging really takes it out of me at the moment.

You would be a great and shiny person for picking your dad's brains.

What I remember off the top of my head: the most efficient way to train for anything is work, rest, work, rest. That is, you exercise a lot on one day and then take the next day off or exercise only lightly and then exercise again after that. Most learn-to-run clinics meet three times a week because it is obviously a little tough to compose an alternating schedule that repeats evenly over an odd number of days. Monday on, Tuesday off, Wednesday on, Thursday off, Friday on, Saturday off, Sunday on, Monday off... whoops. XDDDD

There is also the ~Optimum Schedule~ that he devised, which I think I've told you about. The one where you divide the week into fourteen half-days and exercise four times, twice heavy, twice light, leaving one half-day of rest after a light session and two after a heavy. Except that right now I can't seem to write out the schedule in a way that makes sense and repeats properly. Maybe it is two heavy and three light? Or maybe it's two rest periods after a light and three after a heavy? IDK.

I'm cheering you on fat-arsedly as I sit on my comfortable couch, watching Doctor Who and stuffing my face with strawberry-chocolate bars. I would join lienne and wave pompoms too, but, you know, that just seems like an awful lot of effort in comparison. Gosh, my fingers are tired from typing all that just now. *goes to bed exhausted*
