The titles can honestly mislead in such subjects. My friend once did a very extensive project on the properties of algae and tested different methods to expurgate (is that word right...?) water. She and her other team members tried to find out if you could use biological methods to keep the lake in the city park clean. It was really fascinating (althoug it turned out not to be applicable), but the title was completely incomprehensible. Whenever she told other people about it, they were like "Right..." and practically ran away. ;)
I actually didn't even understand the title of your Ph.D - it was one of those moments where I so wanted to support your joy and yet I had no idea what you were talking about. This happens a lot in school - we will all be sitting there and a group of my friends will start talking about esters and some experiment to do with iodine (or whatever it is people do in science) and I will glance at my friend Nancy and we will have identically blank and clueless faces.
And then I go back to the more academically stunted world of the creative arts. ^_^
Loveage, and YAY on your being on LJ again and the general joy that Chemistry gives you ...
Yay for you! Do you have to write a thesis eventually? I want to see the first paragragh if you do. I remember being totally lost in the first sentence of my lil brother's thesis. Hee! Glad you're excited. Sounds wonderful.
Yes, I have to write a thesis, but that won't be for another 2 years. You bet you can read it! No doubt I'll send it around to get it checked over for stoopid mistakes :D
