Not for nothing, but I can see why you're frustrated. And personally I think the doctor who handed you that prediction deserves a good boot to the head, for failing to understand that different people recover at different paces.

You're not alone, and if you need to vent, we're here for you.

I can understand where you are coming from here. We'll talk further, you and I, soon - I have some suggestions that might help. Remember - I've been there.

That fucking sucks.

Might I suggest talking to Malcolm, if and when you are ready to start fencing again?

Okay, first, take a deep breath. Everyone recovers at different rates.

Two - you need to build up those muscles that have not been used. You may need some supports (you should see the aging dons and donas when we put our gear on. It is arm brace, check, second arm brace, check, knee brace, check) until you have strengthened yourself enough.

You may need to cross train for a while longer to get yourself and your body ready to do this. Go slow at first and then build up your stamina.

And three, talk to Malcolm like everyone suggested.

We are here for you.
