NOTHING going on. Jeez. Nothing at all. My life is dull and boring! But I did have a good weekend, hanging with my buds, planning our trip to Vegas this May. We're staying at the Flamingo, which looks so pretty on their website ( Read more... )

You had a better weekend than I did. scottbad100 January 20 2004, 07:08:43 UTC
I went to a friend's wedding shower and they cooked fajitas. I love fajitas but I guess they were too richly marinated because I spent all Saturday night throwing up everything I ate in my entire life it felt like. (Aren't ya thankful for that lil tidbit of info :-) ) You'll love Vegas. I stayed at the Belagio in December. I think I remember the Flamingo and it looked pretty cool.

Congrats again on the weight loss.

The South Beach Diet? leoff January 20 2004, 07:52:06 UTC
That has you eating a lot of sand, right?

Julia will probably be cool from now on. The bonding stuff took time. Just be glad it didn't take longer!

Sounds like a nice, slow weekend. You deserve that. Everyone does, but new parents inparticular...

I don't want to rain on your parade... rleyser January 20 2004, 08:26:19 UTC
but 7lbs in 8 days is not safe. and probably won't stick around, since it is probably water weight, not real weight. Don't be surprised if some of it comes back. and safe is 1-2lbs a week, sweetie, not a day...

What I know is this: My mother is a registered dietician, and on the board of the American Dietetics Association, and The South Beach Diet is the only "fad" diet that she's ever in her life approved of. According to her, and the research she's done on it, the first two weeks will produce a dramatic amount of weight loss because you cut out dairy, carbs, and fruit. Without the sugars and carbs from those products your body has no choice but to burn fat calories instead.

The reason she supports this diet is because the first phase, which involves cutting out those three food groups, only last two weeks. Anything longer than that and she agrees it's not safe.

Don't worry, I'm being responsible. And I'll take water-weight loss.

Next Monday I start Phase 2 of the SBD and I *slowly* start to add back in carbs, dairy and fruit, and the diet plan warns us to expect that our weight loss will taper off to 1-2 pounds a week, sometimes not even that.
