On the home front (and I'm still giddy that there is one), Arya's managed to assemble the circuit boards for our RepStrap cartesian robot, though I've been slacking on the chassis assembly due to Burning Man. Hopefully I'll get some serious ( Read more... )

I think the biggest problem with that one would be the wind, actually - they'd be unable to stay even remotely close to stationary. Other than that, it's mostly just wire and plastic sheeting, with helium for lift and eight tiny motors. I imagine a homebrewed AirJelly would have terribe battery life.

Not much in wattage - but in terms of actually getting anywhere at a reasonable speed, I can't think of many things *less* efficient than an AirJelly.
