Why the ASPCA should take my dogs away...

Oct 19, 2008 15:07

So..I'm not one to dress up my dogs. Really, I'm not. No foo foo clothes, no silly booties or sparkly collars. I took my dogs for a walk this morning and it was very cold though, and Odin was shivering by the time we came back inside. He didn't seem to be warming up well, so I figured I should help him out. Unfortunately this meant putting some ( Read more... )

Aw c'mon - he looks GOOD in pink!
Orbit has half a dozen coats (courtesy of my mother, who makes them) and quite enjoys wearing them as the winters tend toward brutal up here. But my old JRT hated wearing anything. She used to give me these indignant looks like she was gonna chew off my face while I slept...

Another horse?! Crikey.

I hope that your teeth sort themselves out - I, too, live in fear of my half-erupted wisdom teeth...

I'll admit I have a coat for Sofie, but its PRACTICAL! Practical dog clothing is okay. Just no tutus or anything like that. It was more my reaction to squeeze him and make him walk around with a popped collar that scared me.

The tooth thing is no fun, huh? I just want them to hurry up and come out!

oh, the wisdom tooth thing is very scary. Dentistry isn't covered by my provincial healthcare program, and I certainly couldn't afford oral surgery. The worst part is that impacted wisdom teeth, left untreated, can become infected and life-threatening. But how do you take care of that if you're poor?

Oh my goodness! Your doggie is adorable, if a little irked looking in the second picture. I always wanted to get Aremis a pirate costume, but they didn't make them in his size. So, one Hallowe'en, I got him a pumpkin hat. I think it stayed on all of 30 seconds.

That's very good of you to take in another horse. It makes me happy to hear when a needy animal gets a home with a caring person - so many don't.

What are you studying in school? Did the spiders all survive?

The same things happened with my wisdom teeth. I was told I didn't have any, but I guess they meant I didn't have any that had grown in. Then a few years ago, my bottom wisdom teeth partially erupted with no pain or complications... but my jaw hurts all the time now and locks up on a regular basis. The doctors don't think it's related, but I'm not convinced of that myself.

What kind of pup is Aremis? Is he of the too big or too small variety for costumes? Odin, the pink one, is always too big, and Sofie is proportioned wrong. I could see putting them in silly costumes for Halloween ( ... )

I'm afraid that Aremis passed away last Monday, but he was a mutt - German Shepherd and something... Definitely too big for most costumes(fortunately for him).

Actually, your thesis sounds very interesting, but then, I've always been fascinated by animal behavior on any scale, even the relatively small scale of bugs.

Speaking of "fascinated," did you know we get that word from a Roman term for a model of an erect penis that was kept inside a locket?

I'm so sorry! :-( I'm not sure what I'll do when my last guys leave me. When my last dog passed I swear it almost broke me.

You shouldn't tell me it sounds interesting! You'll have to hear all about it. Once its completely fleshed out, you're in for it...

And no... I had no idea. I'm going to use it more frequently now and giggle about it. I'm mature. :-)
