Daphne hadn't exactly been spending a lot of time at the flat in the last week, for more reasons than one. Of course she had been popping in and out for fresh clothes and had spent a few nights there but they were far and few between, unable to tear herself away from Cormac for too long since they had officially started dating the previous Tuesday ( ... )

"You're what now?"

Cecilia wasn't sure why her eyes widened- though perhaps it was just old instinct from their past, the two of them always dramatically reacting to whatever piece of news one of them was going to share. But the moment Daphne mentioned Cormac, she knew something was up. Daphne was always approached by men, before Terry, during and certainly after.

But the ones she mentioned were always the important ones.

"Don't tell me you've gone and gotten yourself back in a relationship?" she couldn't help but tease.

There weren't very many men, or boys, as they were before her relationship had started with Terry, that ever made Daphne think twice, more than happy to use them for a free drink (or a free paper when she was still in Hogwarts) before throwing a wink and disappearing. Her standards were almost impossibly high and even though she had been with Terry these last ten years that didn't mean she had stopped noticing.

Cormac had completely knocked her off of her feet when he walked into her office and now, at least for the last ten days, he'd been sweeping her off of her feet.

He was most definitely special.

"That may have been what happened," she told her, voice airy and casual about the whole thing.

Daphne Greengrass did not swoon.

"It's not like I've spent nine of the last twelve nights there or anything-"

Cecilia huffed a breath of laughter. She pushed herself away from the door jam, hands falling to her side as she shuffled toward Daphne's bed. Her feet were killing her and her whole body ached from a long day at the hospital. She knew that falling back on to her best friend's bed while she got herself filled up on the gossip she apparently missed was the best thing to cure her aches and pains.

She flopped down, not quite as eloquent as she could have, a wry grin tugging at her lips.

"Oh, really?" she asked, laying down on her side, propping herself up on her elbow. "Please, tell me everything and do not skimp on all the dirty details-"
