That said, your use of the term "noble" is confusing to me, as altruistic behavior is generally considered just that. Hence pushing for the rights of illegal immigrants, despite the supposed (and, in my opinion, incorrect but that's neither here nor there) threat they pose to the middle-class, would seem to fit the classical definition of noble quite neatly.
*chuckle* Of course, were I to read this comment in a forum as opposed to a friend's livejournal, I'd dismiss it immediately as trolling rather than an honest question.
