I've put posts on Facebook, but for those who don't follow me there, my husband got a new hip last week. I'm too lazy to write directly about it, so I'll copy/paste my Facebook statuses

Good thing that you're posting here, because I had mised the FB updates!
Hips are (relatively) easy. Knees are difficult. Feet (bunions etc.) are to be avoided at all costs. I have this from patients for all three.
All sorts of good wishes to Jeff - tell him my New York cousin & surrogate mother lived to 96 with her two bionic hips, and was happy she'd had the ops!
Not really. I was up and walking immediately after the surgery -- both feet at once, with saws and chisels and pins, etc. I had to wear a cast for a couple weeks and then a shoe-like thing once the pins came out. I took Tylenol with codeine for the first few days and nothing afterwards. Of course, YMMV. I do have a really high tolerance for pain (get my fillings without anesthetic). The only really painful part was the shots to numb my feet, since I went with local instead of general anesthetic.
My feet hurt far worse the day before surgery than the day after. I was kicking myself (not literally) for waiting so long! Now every time I go walking I am so thankful.
