So has anyone ever been called for jury duty while they were attending school? If so, were you able to get out of it because you were a student ( Read more... )

I am fairly sure you will have to go to Jury Duty but the school is legally obligated to allow you to make up whatever you missed.

really!? When I called they didn't know anything they said I could just not go this semester.

No way, they can get into a ton of trouble. Nothing can penalize you for completeing jury duty.

You can get out of it. I would have if mine wasn't set for august- but I told them I was driving up to Reno to see the campus and I couldn't go any other time - they let me off. If you call 5 business days before and tell them you have class they will let you off. I've done it three times now.

I served on Monday, I wrote them and explained I had class for the original summons and they moved me up.
