I have a few things to say today - surprise, surprise.

Due to sasha_b's post about editing and writing I really think about re-reading and translating my poor novel I wrote years ago. I am not sure yet if I will/should really do it or just go ahead with something new. I have a nice little idea for a legend based King Arthur story in mind, playing around ( Read more... )

I think that's a great idea, and I understand the boringness of writing alone. However, I am used to that, so most of the time I find it exhilarating. Control is a sticking point with me *laughs* so that's part of it. I love that you're thinking of it, and I would love to talk to you about the process anytime. Mine is legend King Arthur as well, although I set them in the future, taking the concept of Arthur being the once and future king and waking them up during a dragon apocalypse. *snort* The brilliance of Arthurian legend is you can do whatever you want to with it, since it's in public domain ( ... )

That is a great thing indeed: it seems the Arthurian legend hides never ending possibilities. I love this too and it allows you to put it in a quite realistic univerese or add alot of magic (and dragons for example). Will you post your story somewhere ( ... )

I have a lot of control issues, however, one of the best things about RP is me having to learn to relinquish them. The other cool thing is being really excited to see that notification that someone else has posted and you get a surprise story that you get to read, even if it's only three sentences. It's a brilliant experience ( ... )

If the writing is well it does not matter how long the post itself is. I prefer a short post in RP that is very good and with which I can work instead of a novel that says mostly nothing. Unfortunately some poeple do not get this *laughs ( ... )

I would also encourage you to write when the muse strikes you - I have started countless stand alone fics and even my own so-called novel (Arthurian of course) that I have never finished. *laughs* Often I have overall story ideas that I truly want to explore, I simply struggle finding the time to write then out in detail. I admire those of you who can do this. I work with authors and every one of them have a different approach to how they write and what inspires them. So if you can find a structure that works for you and a way to keep it from becoming boring, I think it would be wonderful! I have always loved your writing as I think you have a brilliant and original style of storytelling ( ... )

If the muse just would strike me! *laughs*

Time is a huge problem - I am totally with you there. I need minimum 2 hours time to sit down to do a proper writing like a part of a novel or a piece of fiction. Another reason why I love RPs: 30 minutes and the post is done. Because these 2 hours I often do not have.

And I have no idea yet what that structure might be... I will have to think about that. I tried some different things already but still become bored at a point, most of the time in the middle of a piece of work. Not patient am I *winks*
And gosh, thank you for the lovely words about my writing! I am blushing now...

Oh yes! I really hope that we will continue that RP thing... miss it!

I think that walking awy is the only way that works. The longer you stare at a blank screen the less creative you become. And yes, VERY frustrating! You just go and do something else and return later to try it again? Or what do you do?

Of course, pictures will be posted!

Love
Charlie.

Usually I go and do a physical project whether it is cleaning something or outside weeding in the garden. Just something to clear my head from whatever creative project that I was stuck on. Then I come back to it a few hours later...or sometimes a day later and try again. Most of the time this works for me. I have days when I simply cannot do anything creative at all. So it is better to just not try and force it - I take the day off and read, watch a movie or run errands in town. Then the next day I might work on 5 or 6 design projects all in one day and all of them will flow for me.

Writing is tougher though - I go for much longer dry spells when that just will not work. It makes me sad, but visual design just comes so much easier for me despite the fact that I also do love writing too. I cannot write an RP post in 30 minutes! I need 2 hours for one post no matter how short! Ha!

*hugs tight*

I think the travelling helped, too. To see something else than the usual four trees around me.

Normally writing is much easier for me than doing something with photoshop, but of course I never learned using photoshop properly. So I am not surprised that visual design is easier for you - and thank God it is as it is your love and your job!

I assume I will just try to stick to the writing - whenever creativity will return.

*laughs* gosh, always 2 hours! Poor lovely Honey Pie. I do not think so much about RP posts because the other writer has to deal with it anyway. Of course I do not want to write crap or something poor, but I think I do not care so much because the direction of the storyline changes again and again. If that makes sense?

Love
Charlie.

P.S.: Yes, I am back but the pictures must be looked through first before I can post something.
