Around mile marker 337 on Highway 101, a bit south of Gold Beach, Oregon there are a series of pull offs for Meyers beach or point or something like. And on that beach are many big rocks, 30 and 40 feet high, and there among those rocks, to the south, is one skinny yet wide, close to the road, above the tide, wherein lies the best bouldering I've ( Read more... ) -

Firsts
Yesterday I drove looking for Bulo Point. I took an early right turn because I thought I saw some rocks. Ended up driving all over the place but not to Bulo Point. I found a simply spectacular campsite whose location I'm sure I should not divulge (maybe in a friends only). Here's its view:

In the Hood
I'm at the Ice Axe Inn in Government Camp, Oregon. GC is a ski town on the shoulders of Mt. Hood. I'm here by way of getting vaguely lost last night somewhere in the Mt. Hood National Forest. I finally had a chance to have the famous Walla Walla Onion Rings from Burgerville. These things are touted as the be all and end all of onion rings. Whatever. They're big. So what. They don't taste very interesting ( Read more... ) -
Portland Bound
I'm leaving in a bit to cross Idaho by way of highway 12 and then join up with the freeway to Portland around Walla Walla. Somewhere in there I will sleep.
I had a good dog and cat saturated time at Frank's place. Also had a lovely walk up a place called the Kootenai Canyon.
