Well I ended up finding things to do for Canada Day. It wasn't terribly exciting though, at least not until night. I decided to walk downtown and the HMCS Nanaimo was there. I can totally sympathize with the lack of long hair-friendly hats thing. I struggle with that every time I try to wear one. It's irritating to have so much hair clinging to your neck when it's so warm out. If it's hot enough to need a hat, it's too hot to wear your hair down.

I saw the Canada Day fireworks a few years ago when we went up to Victoria with Pauline (the French exchange student who was staying with us.) We actually forgot that it *was* Canada Day and were surprised when the fireworks started. ;)
