Character Info
Character Name: Galatea
Character’s Age: Never stated, as usual. She has been referred to someone who has "lived too long". But because of her persona and abilities, I wouldn't be surprised if Galatea was in her 50s. Of course, this is fanon, but she carries the air of someone who is an old mother.

Fandom: Claymore
Timeline: After the invasion of Rabona
Appearance:
She's a very beautiful woman, no doubt. Long pale blonde hair parted to the side that goes down to her waist. She now bares a large scar where her silver eyes used to be, blind, with white eyes. It definitely is a juxtaposition with her appearance. As of now, Galatea can often be seen in a nun's habit with out the wimple (headdress).

History:Right here and also:

Not much is known about Galatea, about her past... nothing. She first appears in the manga in "The Slashers" chapter, after Miria, Helen, Deneve, and Clare have fought an Awakened Being. She, in turn, was watching and feeling out these four, from such an impressive distance. She described in detail what happened, down to their emotions and as well as Deneve almost awakening. Time passes, and Galatea isn't called upon, until Clare goes rogue after her clash with Ophelia. Sent by the organization, she is ordered to bring back Clare alive or dead.

And it's so fitting, in the heat of a battle with an awakened, Dauf, while Clare is injured, she scoops her up and takes her away. While Dauf repeatedly tries to hit her with projectiles that his body produces. She shows one of her powers that eventually Clare learns -- yoki manipulation. Which means that if a strong opponent has an aura, she could manipulate their blows into missing her. After the entrance caves in, Galatea is forced to put down Clare and fight Dauf and handle Riful. This is all happening while three Claymores are tortured to the brink of Awakening, and Jean, the leader of that pack, Awakened down bellow. Clare almost awakens from her injuries, but Galatea brings her back with her yoki manipulation.

So while that happens, Clare goes off and manages to help Jean turn back from Awakening, mimicking Galatea. Galatea, in the meantime, is forced to fight with Dauf, after Riful instructs Dauf to focus and release more yoki, he's actually landing hits on her. While Clare and Jean come back up, Galatea unwillingly goes into yoki release, and the two slowly but surely formulate a plan with Galatea to injure Dauf, take Riful on, and get the hell out.

Riful promises to tell the name of the man who travels with Priscilla, who she has wanted to take out for a while, if she hits her. And after much retardation on Clare's part, she does so. The small ruins cave in, Riful awakens, tells Clare of Isely, and... well. Flies off or something. Or disappears. Take your pick.

With that out of the way, Galatea goes back and tells Clare she has to come, alive or dead. Jean interferes, and tells her she is protecting Clare, because she believes that she owes her life, after saving her from Awakening completely. Galatea tells them that she plans to tell the organization that they died, and walks off. But apparently the organization finds out, thanks to Rafela (rank five) and send her on a mission, away from the brutal war of the north, which kills most of the parties called.

This is the last time Galatea puts up with the organization. Even as a high rank, she never has seen number two and number one. She sees the twins, Beth and Alicia, who display their "soul link" and kill off the remaining monsters from the northern campaign. Galatea is so disgusted with it, it's why she finally leaves the organization.

Because of her trademark eyes, Galatea goes far as to gouge them out, and also, there was not enough yoki suppressant medicine for her. It makes her more human (sadly enough, what the hell) and when she walks into Rabona, the holy city, which forbids Claymores? She's not turned away. While she's in hiding, the new rank of six, Dietrich, is hunting her down. Galatea becomes "sister Latea", a mother figure to the orphans. During that time of seven years, she lives a happy life as a human, peacefully.

Though as time goes on, and despite her suppressing her yoki, the organization sends Miata, ranked number for, and the new 47, Clarice. Miata doesn't HAVE to feel yoki to track someone out, and while they come to Rabona, they ask about a blind woman. And she's found. This, of course, happens while a former number two awakened, Agatha, invades the town. So while Galatea is fighting off Agatha, she's literally fighting off Miata, too. Later, she reveals she knew Agatha was there all along, and quietly waited for the organization to send more warriors in, in hopes of taking down Agatha with her.

Clare and her company come back in, and while things look bleak, Galatea is saved by Miria, the seven strike down Agatha. With that out of the way, Galatea tells Clarice they can kill her now, since the town is safe. Clarice breaks down and refuses to return to the organization, and taking Miata with her. Though with her cover exposed, Father Vincent informs Galatea that the priest she was with all these years knows. And doesn't care. So Galatea is given the option to return to her human life without incident, to which, she gladly accepts. Galatea stays in Rabona with Miria and Tabitha.

Personality:
Galatea is best known for her haughty attitude and pride as a warrior. As a warrior, she is tactical, analytical, and cautious. Her former high rank reflects this characteristics, Galatea without a doubt carried and believed in herself compared to others. As number three out of forty-seven, she was a force to be reckoned with and as with any warrior of the Organization, Galatea was guilty of being aloof and steal-hearted. Of course, Galatea with her pride -- it can and will get the better of her at times. She is also guilty of coming off as snooty and egotistic.

She's been shown to be extremely adaptable, calm, and very level-headed. Anything that is thrown at her, she's learned to work with it or even around it. Nothing seems to deter her ego and her down to earth nature, unless she's faced with something obviously too strong for her to predict and foresee. But even then, Galatea never really gets angry, just irritated. Her anger manifests around those who just can't seem to learn patience and act rationally.

But what she's best known for is her witty mind. She will joke, tease, and torment in all good fun or to rouse an enemy so bad, she can affect their focus in a fight. She's not afraid to even poke fun at herself, reflecting on the fact that a yoki release would make her look "ugly" or referring to her hair when coming down on Clare's accuracy. She is hardly vain by any means, just someone who isn't afraid to take jokes and joke back.

Galatea has arguably had more human contact than any other Claymore, which makes her more socially adjusted and daresay very friendly with others. She's more familiar with social cues than her kind. And not only that, Galatea is, well, surprisingly motherly. She became the mother figure to orphans in Rabona and Galatea is pretty open about it; she loves it, actually. She also brings more people to the church because of her warm and friendly nature. And this is why she's become so protective of Rabona and it's people.

Above all, she's the voice of reason, a realist. She chides others if they get ahead of themselves and is obviously very wise in her years. Since she's put up with a lot and taken much pain and abuse, Galatea can simply take it, despite it bruising her ego.

Powers/Abilities:
Like all Claymores, Galatea is half-yoma, half human. This gives her the ability to sense yoki (demonic aura of yoma), super strength, speed, endurance, eat small meals (literally bites) ever other two days, temper regulation, and regeneration. But every Claymore has a varying talent of her very own. Galatea was once one of the highest ranking Claymores of her time, making her one of the strongest compared to others. But her talent lies in her ability to sense yoki. She's given the nickname "God Eye" for this reason, alone.

Once the Organization's eye, Galatea was given operative missions (like Raphela, who could suppress her yoki to make her undetectable to anything) to seek out her own and Awakened Beings. She can feel the strength, rank, and even the emotions of anything with yoma blood. So when Clare, Helen, Deneve, and Miria are through with an Awakened hunt, Galatea walks a human organization handler of what's going on. To be blunt, "Ceiling Cat" describes Galatea pretty well. She can feel most anything, better than anyone of yoma blood. Possibly better than an Abyssal or Awakened.

Though Galatea broke off from the Organization seven years ago. Claymores are easily distinguished by their silver eyes, so most have to take a suppressant medication to revert their eyes to their original human color. However, Galatea obviously couldn't acquire a stock of seven years worth of medication, so she blinded herself. But relying on her senses increased her ability to pick up yoki, she quietly waited in Rabona for the Organization to send more to kill her, so she could have back up on taking an Abyssal One, Agatha. She was able to sense that above any Claymore. Even as Dietrich approaches Rabona to inform Miria, Tabitha, and Galatea as to what happened, Galatea's able to sense and feel out Dietrich more than Tabitha, all the while Dietrich has taken suppressants. Even back in chapter 44, page 12, she is able to sense Riful who has hidden her yoki from Clare. She's able to still sense and feel out anything with yoki, either natural or medicated suppressing. Though for some reason, she isn't able to detect the seven ghosts... it may be because she was far too distracted at the time with fighting an Abyssal One and Miata all at once. Hands down, Galatea's senses outdo anyone in her world.

Another ability of Galatea is her ability to manipulate and synchronize her yoki with others. This can change the trajectory of their attacks, as she senses it, which can lead them to miss an attack on her. Though as Riful points out, she has to release her own yoki to do this, so anything that strikes her at all full force, she won't see coming and underestimate that blow. Galatea's a defensive type, which means she can regenerate quicker than an offensive type. An example would be she can regenerate and regrow a limb, where an offensive type would have to reattach that limb or lose it completely. She states in Rabona her arm would be back to full function in a week, after losing it, so I'm guessing it'd take a week to regrow a limb.

Limitations:
UH. Like Clare, she'll be limited to her strength and "sight" to by half. So, yes, this also means she falls under the using her yoki release at least once a month. She won't be able to pick up anything supernatural from a bigger radius than normal. Also, if she loses a limb, instead of growing it back to a week, she'll grow it back to two weeks. But really, this won't bother her, truth be told.
