What's an endodontist do?

Actually, I had to look it up myself. Seems they do root canals. Pretty much exclusively.

The dentist took one look at the x-ray of my owwie tooth and told me I'd need one, and she couldn't do it because I have a weird curvy root. So she sent me home with some antibiotics, Tylenol #3 and a referral. Luckily the pain is not constant... but when it hits, oh-God-sweet-fucking-Jesus does it hurt.

Wow, that's a bummer. I went to an endodontist and had one done about a year ago. He did an excellent job, and the only thing I felt were the shots that numbed me up. People talk about how painful root canals are, but honestly, it's the pain in a tooth that needs one that's excrucuating, not the procedure itself. Plus, after, there was Vicodin!
