happy twothousand-and-six

Jan 01, 2006 23:45

In the past 36 hours I've had three hours sleep. I am so close to just keeling over and sleeping wherever I land. But I'm valiantly struggling against narcolepsy for long enough to bring you a fun-and-exciting post about New Year's 2006.

We started at about 5pm at my house. Me, Fo, Fi, Finn, Lucy, Christina, Carleen and Claire drank cava and wine and ate pizza and Fo's amazing chocolate cake. We glammed ourselves up a little and about 8.30 we wander over to Ben's in order to partay. If there's one thing I hate it's being too drunk to remember things the next day. This was not one of my worst occasions, although neither was it one of my best. I remember a fair amount of stuff. Ish. At midnight we made a fairly hopeless attempt to sing Auld Lang Syne.

We stayed until 3 and then Ben's dad gently suggested that we might think about leaving. So we all staggered back to my house, minus Claire who had gone home, but plus John, Adam, Bruno and Chris. We then sat in my living room from then onwards while I ran around trying to make tea and toast for everyone. Chris got his arse out. Finn and Adam played a very extended fetish game (that was less wrong than it sounds). At 6.30 I went upstairs to get some sleep, leaving mostly everyone else sitting around in sleeping bags in the lounge. At 9 I woke up and came down to discover that our food drawers had been raided and ramsacked. I have never had such hungry guests. And I think they traumatised the cat. People started leaving at about 10. Fo, Fi, Lucy and I did an absolutely spectacular clean-up job and then Fo and I slobbed around my house most of the day.

Probably photos are the best way to convey this event.
