So even though I've been home from Japan and out of school for six weeks, it wasn't til this weekend where it really felt like summer vacation. And the school's still aren't out for summer so the town hasn't hit summer mode yet completely.
When I first got back to the States, I went and visited my best friend for a few days and then came home and was bored. I saw a few local community theater productions and then the following week was BORING!! No one was home and it was cold. It stunk. Especially since the weather had been so nice in Tokyo when I left that I had to come home to crappy weather. I then visited my friend in New Hampshire for a night the next weekend and by then my sister and other best friend had finally come home for summer.
I also started working for my mom as one of my two summer jobs. It's nice because all I do is scan charts into a computer and label them, but it gets kinda boring after 4 hours straight. And I can only go in after 4 on weekdays so it puts constraints on my availability. Now with my friends getting their schedules, I seem to have to work when they're free which sucks. And when I'm scanning, its too hard to read cuz I have to stop every five secs to change the document. And I was watching movies on my laptop until that died.
Which brings me to that wonderful incident. So one night, wicked randomly, I went to turn on my computer and it wouldn't turn on and made this loud ass beeping noise at me. My dad took it to the HP people to have it looked at they said the motherboard had failed. Apparently the happens from overuse. The computer was only a year and a half old and I didn't use it that much. I know other people who have used their comps more and they're fine. And since I had my first laptop stolen a new one will be my third in 3 years. I don't think I'm gonna go with HP anymore, even though I liked the comps I had a lot, cuz my first laptop had the HD replaced before it was stolen. I just feel all guilty about my parents having to buy me another computer and I'm still paranoid my laptop will get stolen again, so now I'll have that extra paranoia that it will fail. Boo. it sucks.
What else has happened to me? oh yes, I went to Colorado for a weekend to see my cousin get married. It was wicked weird cuz she's only a year older than me and she's married. So strange. And it was awkward during some moments cuz it's the family that I'm not really close with so we all hadn't seen each other at the same time in 7 years. But even though it was awkward at times it was a good time since I got to see my brother again (he lives across the country).
I also just finished working on a production of "Jungle Book Kids" which was a very short show starring 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. It turned out really well and we had like 600 people come see the two performances which was a lot more than was expected. And the audience absolutely loved it and went ballistic. Though the kids were devils and wouldn't listen or stop talking a lot of the time, when the time came to perform they did wonderfully well and delivered a great show. Much better than the 5th grade play we did when I was that age. And the majority of the cast was 3rd and 4th graders so the average kid was pretty young. I actually kind of miss working on it, but I think it's cuz I really miss just working on a show. But the summer production of Grease gets started this week so yay for that. We have our read-through tonight so I hope it goes well.
And now that it's actually hot it feels like summer I want to enjoy it as best I can. And I have so much trip planning to do I better get started.
