As you know, my beloved Abooksigun passed away in May, just a few months shy of his fifth birthday. I knew he had a congenital defect...there's a big fancy name for it but basically his diaphragm had a hole in it and some of the organs that are supposed to be below the diaphragm were above it. I don't think missing someone (or somecat) you love is silly. Sure it's sentimental, but it makes you human. And all the more beautiful in your humanity.

You're not silly at all. We lost Shadow in April, and still miss him terribly, even with a new cat in our lives. I love Katie, but she is not Shadow. Cats and other critters make life worth living some days - getting out of bed is worth it just to see how happy they are to be near us. :)
