The schools I went to didn't have graduations for kindergarten or elementary. The first was for middle school.

Good story! I moved to the NW at the end of 1997, but remember shots of the eruption as it was being carried on the news. I was glued to the television. After moving to Portland can't help but see pictures and film footage of the eruption (if not occasional burps from the mountain itself (from a couple of years ago)). Other than the classic footage of the actual explosion, I think yours was the first picture I have seen where the plume is going at that angle as all of the other pictures I have seen are mainly from the Portland area ( ... )

I would be so excited if my parents had a picture of me @ something like this.
