I'm gonna do that '60 Books in 2006' challenge. Not that I think it will be hard, but just to do it and record everything I read and what I thought of it. So far:
60 Books on 2006? I've never heard of that. It sounds fun and actually like a good way to keep ahold of what you remember best about every book you read. Joy Luck Club is next after I finish Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell.
XD Interesing. Do mangas count for this? XD;; If that was the case, I'd be done with this in about two days. I'll try it though. Do they have to be new books? Does it count if I reread the Harry Potter books eight times each? XD ♥
I don't know the offical rules or anything, I'm not sure if they'd count. I'm not counting them for myself, though. No, don't think they have to be new.. Haha, I think that would defeat the point somehow. ;D
Actually, there's the 50bookchallenge comm that I heard about when I got back into LJ... By then half the year was over. ^_^
For this year, there's 50_in_06. I'm seriouslly thinking of it cause I know I can do it. But that means having to go to the library and paying my fines and finding books to read (their selection isn't that great sometimes.) I'd love to be able to afford to buy new books so yeah... Well there's always the etexts I have... So Maybe in Febuarary I'll try it out. ^_^ Looking forward to your reviews and good luck! =D
I'm not a big Amy Tan fan but I know she writes wonderfully. Her books and short stories just don't appeal to me very well. ^^
Ooo, cool. I didn't know there were communities or anything, thanks. :)
Paying fines sucks ass.. and I always seem to accumulate them horribly. But it feels better to just pay and cleanse yourself- the library is worth it! Thank you- It'll probably be slow going until summer, then I'll read the bulk of them. I am determined to do this!!!
Mmm, I get what you're saying. Sometimes an amazing writer just won't interest ya.
Of Mice and Men is awesome, try Psychopath by Kieth Ablow (My favourite mystery author), it's amazing because he made a sympathetic serial killer and I got really sad when one of the characters died, I was so moved that I almost got a lump in my throat. The Left Hand of Darkness - Def. not for everyone but has an interesting premise.
Dunno, books I read recently and enjoyed. You might not like 'em. *shrugs*
