A really easy project, for both of you would be say, a garter stitch scarf. It's just all straight knit stitches (no purling). I'd go with size 12 or 13 needles and bulky yarn in bright colors :) I totally think that knitting can be a realistic activity for a six year old. I think that's the age I did my first embroidery (it was bad but it was all mine).
M kind of knitted w/ supervision during her show rehearsals last year. Would have just turned 5 then. But then when she would bring the stuff home it wasn't possible for her to do without guidance.
So, am eager to see how it goes for you. If all is good and you can give suggestions, maybe I'll start her up again.
so, did you ever get to do this? I'm still curious about it. The Midget's birthday present from us was one of those potholder weaving kits - I think someone elsewhere posted on it, right? We haven't taken it out yet, I sure hope it's age appropriate...
