Dean Winchester would never shop at Wal-Mart!

It's official. The world is coming to an end. Armageddon has nothing to do with the flaming tree that fell on one of my libraries today, nor the library who was without air conditioning today when the heat index was 109F, nor the air conditioner in my bedroom breaking at the beginning of a week-long heat wave. Oh no ( Read more... )

Ugh, Walmart tsarina June 11 2008, 03:32:40 UTC
I loathe Wal-Mart. Evil, evil, evil. What was AC/DC thinking?

I join you in your WalMart hatred. Another fun WalMart fact: when new employees go to work there they get training in how to apply for food stamps. Really.

I had heard that, about the food stamps. Classy of them. (Wal-Mart corporate, not its store employees.)

I share your Wal-mart hate. I only go there in a dire emergency (and yes, size four knitting needles constitute an emergency when the Wal-Mart is close by, the Cool Yarn Shop is not, and my only transportation is a U-Haul).

I'm not a fan of AC/DC, but not because I don't like them. They're just a band I've never travelled with, if that makes sense. The stuff I've heard of theirs I DO like, and fie on Wal-Mart for trashing them like that. I remember when they sold Sublime albums and bleeped every other word out. Bleh on them.

Could you just get the album on iTunes? They're Orwellian, but at least they're not Wal-Mart. Then you could put it on your own CD.

I did think of iTunes because Apple is slightly less evil than Wal-Mart, but AC/DC does not sell their music through iTunes.

I KNOW, RIGHT?

I missed the 'Not' in your sentence, obviously. This is what I get for commenting from work at oh-dark-thirty.

Besides being distasteful in all the other ways you mentioned, WalMart is a really evil corporation. If you're unaware, there's more info here:

Plus, doesn't AC/DC realize how *lame* this makes them sound? I know WalMart is the biggest music retailer in the country or whatever, but I cringe at the phrase "AC/DC Walmart exclusive".

I hadn't seen that site but I did read The United States of Wal-Mart when it came out, so I am not wholly unaware of the evil. Thank you for the link, though, it's...scary. I remember how happy I was when New York City told Wal-Mart a big HELL NO when they wanted to build. And rejecting Wal-Mart might be the smartest thing Mayor Daley ever did for Chicago.

Re: AC/DC. I wonder how much say they had in the matter. It seems odd that a band known for having an edge and attracting the sort that like swearing in their music would say, "O yah, that place that sold that Eagles album is rilly great!"

Blah.

So wait, and then buy it from Ebay. It'll show up in there soon enough.

Once again, ashfae for the win! Because eBay would probably be cheaper AND environmentally conscious.
