I only read two of the nominated books, Disreputable History and The Underneath and I adored them both, for different reasons. It must be hard to be a judge, no?
I am looking forward to reading the others.
P.S. I liked Analeigh, too. And Sam's comments about kissing the male model were too funny!
Re #4, any YA books in the fantasy/vampire area that are worth checking out and are available at a library? :) I've moved from my Agatha Christie obsession to fantasy!
One of my personal vampire favorites is VAMPIRE KISSES by Ellen Schreiber. It's very funny and fast-paced. As for fantasy, have you read the Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud? They are absolutely stunning. The first book is THE AMULET OF SAMARKAND, then THE GOLEM'S EYE, then PTOLEMY'S GATE.
A girlfriend and I are going to see Twilight expressly for the purpose of mocking it. Neither of us have read the books, nor do we plan to. And we're going to a theater that has a $5.00 movie and popcorn night, so we will be a minimum contribution to the profits.
Will report back with snark. Hope you feel better soon.

I am so happy to see that you find they hype over Twilight as mindboggling as me. It gives a validity that, me disliking it, doesn't.
Robin McKinley's Sunshine might not be the greatest vampire book, but it's so much better than Twilight and it hardly gets mentioned. Ever.
And, ooh, I have more books to add to my list of reads.
