Voldemort was dead.
In his dreams, Cedric was dead too. He shuddered even then, feeling the cold chill of night in his bones. Voldemort surrounded him, chilling him further; and yet he felt comforted. They met in a place surrounded by trees and dark shapes, moving together. Cedric looked into the red eyes above, fearing them and yet feeling himself drawn nearer; this was what was needed; this was the true path he was destined to take.
He felt the long fingers on his skin; the cold mouth on his neck.
A soft, gentle hiss reverberated as he woke: “Soon.”
