Last night, I rode from my house (in the Mission) over to Ocean Beach. I had a general idea how to get there on (fairly flat) surface streets, as I didn't feel up to the freeway (or hills) yet. It's not that I'm afraid of hills, it's just that I don't feel I have the clutch/brake fine control down well enough yet, so I'm a bit wary.
And the bit on the fwy was pretty nervous making - I don't think I'm ready for a full on fwy ride yet. But I know that bit of 280 & knew that even if I wasn't comfortable getting up to full speed, I was in an exit lane the entire time & it was only about a mile. So, I'd only piss someone off by going to slow for a very short distance!
And I'll keep you posted if we put together a ride this weekend. Yay! :)
