Izuru greeted his partner with a tender kiss, looking into storm grey eyes, he thought about how Shuuhei had become an essential part of his life.

Shuuhei loved kissing Izuru in the morning before his first class, because the blonde always tasted sweet after breakfast.
#03- Beginning
Watching the 6th rounder from across the courtyard, Izuru wondered if this is what they called a “high school crush”.

“Why are we studying outside again?” Shuuhei whined, smacking his arm again in an attempt to kill the tiny invader, to which Izuru only laughed.
#05- Coffee
“No,” Izuru stated firmly as Shuuhei - once again- offered him a cup of the dark liquid.

Shuuhei held Izuru close against his body in his pitch-black quarters, whispering to him words they both needed, “It’ll be ok…. Maybe not today and maybe not tomorrow, but it will be ok.”

Shuuhei grabbed Izuru’s shoulders, shaking him and shouting, “Just because you are this Division’s Vice Captain doesn’t mean you have to live in a world of despair, a world where you can’t be happy!”

Izuru is surprised to find Shuuhei’s office door locked at this time of night, when he knew he himself would usually be the 9th Vice Captain’s only guest- what was stranger still was the strong scent of alcohol emitting from behind the door.

Shuuhei lazily turns his head as another empty sake bottle slips from his fingers; he can hear someone calling his name from outside his office and staggers over to open the door.

“I’m their Vice Captain so it’s my job to keep a cool head even if everything else is falling apart,” Shuuhei snaps at the surprised blonde.

Izuru is secretly surprised at himself when he finds he had slapped Shuuhei across the face, but still found it necessary to bring the brunette back down to Earth and out of his self pity.

As they appeared on the grounds of the fake Karakura Town, Izuru and Shuuhei grasped each other hands, knowing this was the beginning of the end, and there was every chance either one of them, if not both of them, could die today.

It was the first time Izuru slipped off the roof and fell into Shuuhei’s arm while flash-step training, that he knew from that day on, Shuuhei would always be there to catch him when he fell.

“You keep squirming like this and I’m chopping the whole thing off, Shuuhei!”

Shuuhei looks at the grave, somewhat nervous as he speaks, “I love your son, and wish to marry him.”

Shuuhei chuckled as he withdrew his sword from beside the blonde 1st rounder’s throat, “Just because you’re good at kidou, doesn’t mean that’s all you’ll ever need.”

Izuru regretted letting Shuuhei hide under his desk almost before his 3rd seat could even walk in and read to him what felt like that longest report the blonde had ever heard.

Izuru found it painfully ironic how every time Shuuhei went to the Transient World to fight monsters called “Hollows”; he would also be leaving behind this large, empty feeling inside Izuru’s chest.

Shuuhei kept a firm grasp on the limp blonde body in his arms, the rain pouring down on them turning a faint red as it reached the ground, he raised his reiatsu, hoping someone would find them before the rain washed Izuru away completely.

After an endless amount of nights out drinking themselves stupid, Izuru and Shuuhei had done a lot of stupid things; including each other- but they didn’t regret it one bit.

“I warned you there for thorns,” Izuru chuckles, sucking on the tip of Shuuhei’s bleeding finger.

Renji stared at Izuru, who had turned a bright red and was now glaring at Shuuhei, “Kira… you pierced your what?!”

Izuru’s spine arched as Shuuhei’s arms coiled around his bareback like serpents slithering in the grass.

Izuru didn’t think it had been snowing so hard that they had to get straight back to Shuuhei’s apartment; but the thought was pushed straight out of his head when the hungry brunette brought their lips together.
