Prices ...

As the price of living increases (ugh, and wages sadly stay stagnate), what is causing you the most wallet damage?

Is it the $4.00 gas?

Is it the price hikes on food?

Are your utility costs murdering you?

How are higher prices changing what you do?

Ack! Baby!

That's all I have to say on that measure ;)

If I had any idea when I was going to be home (not often) with enough free time to see you (nearly impossible), I would so call you at once. I want to see the belly ... and whatever you end up drawing on it!

Also, I would call ... if my phone didn't go through the washing machine. Oh fuck.

We've lucked out in that the climate we're in means that AC isn't really an issue. It occasionally gets mildly uncomfortable, but then opening the windows makes it all better. Food costs are prohibitive, but we manage by shopping at the Commissary, which is military only and has deep discounts combined with no sales tax. Rent is what's the real kicker here. Our small 2 bedroom apartment is 800 a month, with only garbage paid for by the management. Water, sewage, and electric are all personal, bringing the simple cost of living here up to around $900 every month, without taking in other bills or food and gas.

I envy you in your PNW climate. Rhar! But Jesus, I do not envy your rent. Not at all!

Coupons! And searching through the weekly JayC grocery specials ad that comes to our mailbox. And sweating it out with the heat. I did four summers in disgustingly humid Poplar Bluff, Missouri, with no AC--I can handle an Indiana summer! Unfortunately Cody has to drive to work every day. That can't be helped. And alas, less booze. But that's probably better for us anyway.

yes, booze is what is killing us as well. 2 beers just isn't as cheap as it used to be.

GAS PRICES!! OMG California blows when it comes to gas prices!! I can't even justify the trek to see Coach in Santa Barbara or my sister in San Diego simply because I have a truck, and it likes to drink gas. I also have a long drive to Alaska coming up. So, gas prices = Suckage.
On the plus side, I'm living with Grandma, who has air conditioning (which rules since its been hovering around 100 degrees) who buys me food, and who lets me drive her '66 Mustang (which guzzles less of the $4.60 gas) So...less suckage there :)
