My, my, my. Finding a job is certainly getting more difficult by the day, isn't it?

What's that you say? It's nearly impossible?

I know!

Ladies and Gentlemen, may I present to you ... my sorta brilliant entrepreneurial idea (sorta brilliant like a MagLight being used to unpack a box of lamps).  Are you ready?

I want to start an artistically- ( Read more... )

This is a terribly open-ended idea, but...

If you could produce some really original business cards, enough to really make people look twice without being kitschy, that could be a business.

Some classy, yet artistic business cards would be great. I know a lot of actors who woudl be looking for soemthing that's still on par with the normal, professional look, but a little more eye catching at the same time.

I would love to do this! Let's face it, theatre is where I cut my design teeth ... and where I would really like to stay.

ooooh. this makes me miss big data so much. i can't believe how cheap their prices were.

business cards are so fun to make, but they get to be super expensive so quickly...if you can find a place that does digital offset printing it can make things a whole lot easier on you. you can print 4 color cards for a "reasonable" rate (as compared to normal offset). but don't get cards printed via online websites. companies like that will print 3 or 4 cards at the same time and will only try to really color match of the cards. so, essentially, one design looks really awesome but the other 3 have a tendency to get some funky skewed colors. you could also try find a place that does thermography printing. if you're doing only a 1 or 2 color card with no bleeds, it's a pretty affordable option that can easily make a card stand out a little more. if you want, i can send you some samples from the place i work at so you can see what it looks like.

There is a surprising lack of music related blank notecards, thank you cards, etc. You'd think with all the bumper stickers and shirts and such with music type things there'd be plenty of cards, but I always have trouble finding blank notecards or thank you cards, either professional looking things or like cutesy joke ones.
Also, I know plenty of people who'd be interested in some LARP related cards (I don't know if you know what that is, but yeah, Live Action Roleplaying)
and I would personally be interested in LGBT related stationary type things, once again, there seem to be a surprising lack, eventually (*hopefully* lol) i'd be very interested in things like LGBT wedding announcements and such
And finally, i'd be happy to help you advertise through word of mouth, knowing plenty of people in the dayton/cinci area who i'm sure would be interested in something like that

See ... you could do it.

Thanks for the info ... I'll brainstorm those ideas. I'm thinking of working more on a "customer-based" level. Meaning, I would design a specific item based on a clients needs. At least for the most part. If I get enough clients together, or it's feasible, I would eventually like to market things on a larger scale.

As such, pass the word around.

Thanks!

Yup! Will do! Let me know about pricing when you get there, that'll make passing the word around easier with more details about what it entails.
