Dreaming backward

The past odd month, I've gone into hibernation mode. It's a strange feeling. I think it's due in part to the unrelenting cloudiness that's hung over Santa Barbara; I've seen the sun intermittently and I only vaguely remember what the mountains look like. I didn't know you'd gone to Groton. You've had quite an amazing education.

I should have guessed it was something like that, though. You have that anti-name-dropping reserve that seems to come from the New England boarding school experience.

What troubles you about Groton?

The three years I spent at Groton were, quite simply, incredibly difficult. There were a number of reasons for this, including the death of my grandparents and a bout with panic attacks and depression, but the time is a blur because I spent so much of my time trying to get by. Any requests? I'm not sure I can contact my subconscious, but I was thinking I'd suggest a dream about picnicking with some rather disgusting gummy caterpillars and a citronella candle in the middle of a cow field. ;-)
